Uganda is a landlocked country in east-central Africa, situated north and northwest of Lake Victoria, Uganda has a total area of 236,040 sq km (91,136 sq mi), of which 36,330 sq km (14,027 mi) is inland water. Is one of the poorest countries in the world.

Life expectancy at birth is around 49 years and population growth at 3.2 percent remains one of the highest in the world. Over the last two decades, Uganda’s economy performed well under a stable macroeconomic environment, with high per capita income growth averaging 3.2 percent per annum.
