> GHANA

Ghana is located on West Africa's Gulf of Guinea only a few degrees north of the Equator. The climate is tropical. In 1957 it was the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to emerge from colonialism. Ghana also experienced the trauma of military takeovers long before others suffered similar fates.
